Suzan Tillotson
CLD, IALD, IES, DLFNY
Suzan Tillotson founded Tillotson Design Associates in 2004 with twenty-three years of lighting design experience. She has won over one hundred lighting design awards for her work including an Edison Price Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, the 2018 International Dark Sky Association Lighting Design and Technology Award, and the 2017 Lighting Designer of the Year at the Lighting Design Awards in London. Her work has been featured in many national and international publications.
Suzan graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design from Louisiana State University where, in 2022, Suzan was named LSU’s College of Art & Design Nadine Russell Chair. She was also the recipient of the LSU College of Art and Design Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012 when she also gave the commencement address.
Suzan has designed the lighting for a wide variety of award-winning domestic and international projects, most notably, the Christ Church United Methodist in New York, NY; Longwood Gardens Conservatory in Kennett Square, PA; St. Ignatius and Gayle and Tom Benson Jesuit Center at Loyola University, LA; The Vieux-Carre Exterior Lighting Guidelines in New Orleans, LA; KJ Ramaz School and Synagogue, The Metropolitan Museum of Art Heavenly Bodies Exhibition, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Public Spaces, Lincoln Center, Governor’s Island, and the East River Waterfront in New York City.
